This past weekend the Pamiskatan Canoe Club in La Ronge hosted the 20th annual Eagle Point Classic Canoe Race. Saskatoon paddlers Randy Chapman and Kate Germin took part and finished a very respectable 3rd in the 18km. Ragnar Robinson, from La Ronge but who has also been training with SCC Marathon paddlers this season, finished 1st in the 18km event with partner Bill Jeffery. This is a great paddling event and paddlers are always treated to warm hospitality and a great time. Below are the official results and link to a folder of photos from the race courtesy of Warren Kelly. 20th Annual La Ronge Canoe Race Eagle Point Marina Saturday, August 23, 2014 Weather: 15 C., mainly cloudy, wind ENE 15 km/hr 7-km Race (straight out to the rocky reef and back, no buoy turns): 1. Several SCC members will be racing this year at the "Classique", la Classique internationale de canots de la Maurice, in Shawinigan Quebec on August 30th, 31st and September 1st. It is the third race in the pro-canoe triple crown, involving 200km over 3 days of downstream racing and portages along the St.-Maurice River from La Tuque to Trois-Rivieres. Last year SCC paddlers Graham Smith and Trevor Robinson finished 8th out of over 50 boats. This year Saskatoon paddlers Graham Smith and Ivan English will paddle together. Trevor Robinson will be racing with Minnesota partner Kjell Peterson, and Edith MacHattie will be racing with New York partner Joe Shaw. Good luck to all!
