When to Go: Start Time is 3:00 Friday, May 19. End time is 12:00 Monday, May 22. Where to Go: Paddlers will be departing from and returning to: “Dale Martin’s Boat Landing,” which is situated 16.5 km past the Thunder Rapids Lodge on Highway 123. Approximately 4 hours from Saskatoon or 2.5 hours from The Pas, MB. Vehicles are left at the start area and athletes will be paddling in approximately 4 hours to Big Eddy Camp. Why Go: To be in an optimal environment for three dedicated days of: canoe practice and training; nutrition seminars; stroke analysis; technical discussions; improve weaknesses; and participate in endurance/interval/and tempo sessions with professional instruction. What to Bring: Proper clothing and footwear for such a training camp; sunblock, sunglasses, hat, towel, (sleeping bags provided), your own paddle and lifejacket, canoe (or your partner’s canoe C-2 or C-4 or solo, but C-2’s preferred); water bottle. Food: Pasta and Bannock night Friday, BBQ night Saturday, Fish and Stew night Sunday, breakfast Saturday and Monday is hearty oatmeal, sausages and fruit, breakfast Sunday is pancakes, bacon and eggs. Lunches will be soups and salads. So bring amounts of food for each meal and we will share with each other. Bring your own munchies if you want.
